A WONDERFUL COLLECTION OF CACTI
We are
indebted to Mark Wilson for this collection
of his unpublished photographs

Only a short distance from this busy
scene,
there is much tranquility to be found
in Forton........
beside the Lancaster
Canal
along the canal
towpath

by the River Wyre

and beside Forton
Primary School

The school received a coveted
Countryside Award for the imaginative
development of The Dell
We had
a Post Office & Shop until November 2006. Sadly they have now closed,
but a part-time Post Office has opened in the Methodist Church
SOME PHOTOGRAPHS
OF PAST
FIELD DAYS

Nancy Lamb as Rose Queen, pictured when she
represented Forton at the Garstang Festival, 1955

Margaret Carr was Rose Queen in 1970

Young participants seemed to take it very seriously in
the 1970s !!

There could be some loss of dignity for the adults ....

.......not least for a former Vicar of Shireshead.
Can you identify him in this group?

This picture was originally thought to date from
the early 1970s,
but we were pleased to receive an email from Vicki Davis (formerly Vicki Garrad)
who can date it to
June 1963 or 1964. Vicki is on the far left of the back row. Can anyone
identify others present please?

beauty to be found
