1946
There was no local cricket for 6 years
during World War II. The first post-war match was on 11th May 1946 — a home
game v Halton which Shireshead lost. Here is the record of Shireshead's bowling
performance: Billy Wildman took 5/15 off 10 overs.

From the 1948 scorebook
The
statistics were kept with meticulous care during the 1940s. The page below is
a summary of batting performances in 1948. Sadly, many of the clubs playing at that time no longer
exist.
Where were the club's grounds in the 1940s and 1960s?

The Annual Dinner was held at the Royal Station
Hotel in Carnforth
on Saturday 30th September 1967
Printed on the menu were these encouraging words:
Just stand before those three sticks Sir,
attempt to hit the ball.
Be not afraid, it matters not
that the bowler's ten feet tall.
Those present left their autographs on
the reverse of the menu

The period 1979-1981 was an important time in the club's
history,
as will be seen from this page in the Spring Newsletter

Following the untimely death of Harold
Thompson in 2001
a memorial match was held against a Lancaster XI captained by Geoff Bates
The purpose was to raise funds for cancer research
Here are members of the Shireshead team who were joined for the occasion by
former star Ray Blackwell
